Everything you need to know about all of our screen materials


Our projection screens are manufactured by the leading names in the industry, and each manufacturer has a wealth of resources available for you to choose from. To make it easier, we've put together a guide to each material from each manufacturer, with important info such as gain and Viewing Angle. Although these recommendations will work in most situations, each must be looked at not as a strict rule, but rather as a guideline for determining your actual needs based on your own situation. Matt White XT1000E
( 1.0 Gain, 180° Viewing Angle)

The standard to which all other screen surfaces are compared. Preferred viewing surface in educational and commercial markets. A matt white surface diffuses projected light in all directions, so the image can be seen from any angle. Offers accurate color rendition, and superior clarity due to its smooth, non-embossed surface. Requires adequate provision for the control of ambient light in the audience area. Unity gain with a panoramic 180° cone. This surface is GREENGUARD Children and Schools certified.


Contrast Grey XH800E
( 0.8 Gain, 180° viewing angle)

Smooth grey surface offers excellent resolution and enhances color contrast and black levels in the projected image. Recommended for use with moderate and high output digital projectors. Performs well in conditions of ambient light. Full 180° viewing cone. This surface was previously named "High Contrast Grey." This surface is GREENGUARD Children and Schools certified.


Argent White XH1500E
( 1.5 Gain, 180° Viewing Angle)

Matt white base material with luminous coating. Offers high reflectivity, while maintaining a broad viewing cone. Provides excellent resolution and color balance. Consider for use with moderate light output projectors in situations where ambient light cannot be adequately controlled. Flame and mildew resistant.


Pearl White CH1900E
( 1.9 Gain, 46° Viewing Angle)

Matt white surface with pearlescent surface coating. Offers excellent resolution, color balance and uniformity. Tolerates a higher ambient light level than many front projection screen surfaces. Moderate viewing cone. Flame and mildew resistant.


Grey XH600V
( 0.6 Gain, 180° Viewing Angle)

Grey front projection surface provides excellent contrast and black reproduction. Intended for use with moderate to high output digital projectors. Grey color enhances color contrast and black levels in the projected image. Also allows for more ambient light in the audience area than matt white surfaces. Relatively broad viewing cone. This surface was previously named "HiDef Grey." This surface is GREENGUARD Children and Schools certified. Available with black backing and without.


CineFlex CH1200V
( 1.2 Gain, 60° Viewing Angle)

Neutral grey rear projection diffusing surface. Provides high resolution and excellent contrast, even in lighted rooms. Recommended for use with low to medium output projectors. Moderate viewing cone. This surface was previously named "Cineflex."


Contrast White XH1100E
( 1.1 Gain, 180° Viewing Angle)

Diffuse white coating over a grey base material, yields a surface with the best qualities of both matt white and contrast grey screen fabrics. Recommended for use with low to moderate light output digital projectors, where some provision for light control exists. Improves the quality of blacks without affecting whites. Flame and mildew resistant.


ClearSound White Weave XT900E
( 0.9 Gain, 180° Viewing Angle)

The most innovative and versatile acoustically transparent screen material available. Reflects uniform image over full 180° field with accurate color fidelity. Acoustical properties are comparable to the highest quality speaker grille cloth. Some control of ambient light is recommended. Flame and mildew resistant. This surface was previously named "AT1200." Not recommended for use in sizes less than 80" wide.

Matte White
( 1.0 Gain, 120° Viewing Angle)

Matte White is a fiberglass surface for non high-definition projection and environments with controllable ambient light that preserves color as well as black and white images. Seamless sizes vary by product. Matte White can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


High Contrast Matte White
( 1.1 Gain, 100° Viewing Angle)

High Contrast Matte White is a fiberglass surface with a gray base for deeper reproductions of black, which improves contrast. It is for non high-definition projection and environments with moderate ambient light. Available in any width up to 10' in height. High Contrast Matte White can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


Video Spectra 1.5
( 1.5 Gain, 70° Viewing Angle)

Video Spectra 1.5 is a fiberglass surface with a reflective coating for lower output non high-definition projectors. It offers increased brightness with a reduced viewing angle. Suitable for uncontrolled ambient light. Available in any width up to 8' in height. Video Spectra 1.5 can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


HD Progressive 0.6
( 0.6 Gain, 170° Viewing Angle)

Ideal for high output projectors or applications where projector brightness and screen size require low gain, the gray surface compensates for a brightly lit environment so that image contrast is preserved. In Low ambient light, HD Progressive 0.6 provides deep contrast for a rich enhanced image, and is typically used with video. Seamless in any width up to 16' in height. HD Progressive 0.6 can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


HD Progressive 0.9
( 0.9 Gain, 170° Viewing Angle)

Ideal for moderate to high output projectors, the light gray surface achieves a perfect balance between color reproduction and image contrast. Seamless in any width up to 16' in height. HD Progressive 0.9 can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


HD Progressive 1.1
( 1.1 Gain, 170° Viewing Angle)

Ideal for applications where projector brightness and screen size require an increase in gain, the white surface offers true color reproduction and fidelity. Seamless in any width up to 16' in height. HD Progressive 1.1 can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


HD Progressive 1.1 Perforated (HD Pro 1.1 Perf)
( 1.1 Gain, 170° Viewing Angle)

Ideal for applications where projector brightness and screen size require an increase in gain, the white surface offers true color reproduction and fidelity. The perforated vinyl surface allows for the installation of speakers behind the surface. Available in any width up to 8' in height. HD Progressive 1.1 Perforated can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


HD Progressive 1.3
( 1.3 Gain, 150° Viewing Angle)

Ideal for applications where projector brightness and screen size require an increase in gain, the purest white HD Progressive surface offers true color reproduction, and allows for more flexibility with ambient light conditions. It also allows for easy viewing of detail in video as well as charts and graphs in a corporate setting. Seamless in any width up to 16' in height. HD Progressive 1.3 can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


Da-Mat
( 1.0 Gain, 120° Viewing Angle)

Da-Mat is a unity gain vinyl surface with a smoother surface than Matte White. It features a white surface for good color reproduction for environments with controllable ambient light. Seamless in any width up to 16' in height. Da-Mat can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


Da-Tex
( 1.3 Gain, 60° Viewing Angle)

Da-Tex is a vinyl, gray, rear projection surface that works well in high ambient light with a reduced viewing angle. It offers high transmission and low reflective values for optimal viewing. It yields excellent color rendition and image contrast. Seamless in any width up to 16' in height. Da-Tex can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


High Contrast Da-Tex
( 1.0 Gain, 80° Viewing Angle)

High Contrast Da-Tex is a vinyl, dark gray, rear projection surface that works well in high ambient light with a moderate viewing angle. The dark gray surface allows for deeper reproductions of black, which improves contrast. Seamless in any width up to 16' in height. High Contrast Da-Tex can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


Dual Vision
( 0.9 Gain, 130° Viewing Angle)

Dual Vision is a flexible vinyl surface ideal for rear projection, but capable of both front and rear projection. Dual Vision is ideal for video projection under controlled ambient light conditions. With an exceptionally wide viewing cone and light gray tint, a sharp image with no color shift is observed regardless of location in the room. Seamless in any width up to 16' in height. Dual Vision can be cleaned with mild soap and water, is flame retardant and mildew resistant. This surface has achieved GREENGUARD GOLD Certification.


Parallax 0.8 Ambient Light Rejecting System
( 0.8 Gain, 170° Viewing Angle)

Ideal for Pro AV applications where ambient light can not be controlled and a fixed frame solution is preferred. The latest surface from Da-Lite, Parallax 0.8 features an advanced optical lens system that rejects ambient light from above the screen. Parallax 0.8 surface is only for use with standard throw projectors (1.5:1 throw or greater). This new technology mimics the look of a television when it is on and when it is off, but without the glare from windows or lighting fixtures. The lens-like micro layers block and absorb ambient light from above the screen surface, producing a glare and speckle-free surface that achieves optimal ambient light rejection. Parallax can be cleaned using a white clean cloth (100% cotton preferred) that is dampened with clean water, gently wipe the area in a horizontal direction. Do not wipe in a vertical direction or with a circular motion. Using a dry 100% cotton cloth, wipe screen surface dry in horizontal direction after each cleaning. Windex Original spray cleaner can be used on tough to clean areas.


Parallax UST 0.45 Ambient Light Rejecting System
( 0.45 Gain, 160° Viewing Angle)

Ideal for Pro AV applications where ambient light can not be controlled and a fixed frame solution is preferred. The latest surface from Da-Lite, Parallax UST 0.45 features an advanced optical lens system that rejects ambient light from above the screen. Parallax UST 0.45 is unique because it is designed to be used with an ultra short throw (0.4:1 or Less) projector that is mounted below the screen. This new technology mimics the look of a television when it is on and when it is off, but without the glare from windows or lighting fixtures. The lens-like micro layers block and absorb ambient light from above the screen surface, producing a glare and speckle-free surface that achieves optimal ambient light rejection. MaxWhite
( 1.1 Gain, 180° Viewing Angle)

MaxWhite is our most popular screen material for everyday use for today's demanding front projection applications. MaxWhite screen material is the most versatile screen surface for front projection presentations. This material provides the widest possible viewer angles with perfect diffusion uniformity while giving precise definition, image color reproduction and black & white contrast. Screen surface has black-backing to avoid light penetration and can be cleaned safely with mild soap and water. Woven screen material is a multi-layer, cross-array coated with a matte white reflective compound.


MaxWhite FG
( 1.1 Gain, 180° Viewing Angle)

MaxWhite Fiberglass (FG) backed screen material is the next step up to the MaxWhite. It reduces edge curls over the screen material's lifespan that typical non-tensioned screen material develop over its lifespan. Fiberglass backed for added stiffness which provides the flattest possible non-tensioned screen surface with universal applications. This material provides wide viewing uniform diffusion while giving precise definition, color reproduction and black & white contrast. The screen surface has a black-backing to eliminate light penetration, is mildew resistant and washable with mild soap and water.


CineWhite(Tension White))
( 1.1 Gain, 160° Viewing Angle)

CineWhite (Tension Matte White) has broad light dispersion through diffusion uniformity, black & white contrast and true color rendition making it the most versatile in Elite's tensions screen product lines. This tension PVC surface is the best choice for today's high-contrast ratio projectors in commercial or residential presentations. The CineWhite material equals the performance to our MaxWhite product, but improves the experience with the superior surface flatness. Uniform diffusion surface has black-backing to eliminate light penetration and is easily washable with mild soap and water.


CineGrey(Tension High Contrast Grey)
( 1.0 Gain, 160° Viewing Angle)

CineGrey (Tension High Contrast Grey) is designed for low contrast DLP and LCD Home Cinema Projectors. Its superior flatness makes the CineGrey ideal for home theater use. It enhances black levels while minimizing loss in color reproduction. Uniform diffusion surface has black-backing to eliminate light penetration and is easily washable with mild soap and water. *Manufacturer's Tip: if your projector's contrast ratio is more than 2000:1, we recommend you use CineWhite material for a brighter picture.


DynaWhite
( 1.1 Gain, 160° Viewing Angle)

Elite's new DynaWhite Outdoor Movie Screen is a professionally engineered yet cost-effective solution that eliminates all of the problems encountered when trying to project on regular sheet fabrics. It is made of a theater-grade PVC material that is easily fastened into place by use of its corner grommets. They evenly spread out the material tension for a flat projection surface and attach to their surrounding environment such as garage door frames, walls, trees and pole supports. Its 1.1 gain matte white projection surface is textured to avoid hot-spotting while providing color neutrality, and a wide viewing angle that is perfect for social events. Spectra White FiberGlass
( 1.1 Gain, 180° Viewing Angle)

Elite's new Spectra White Fiberglass is a self-supporting matte white front projection screen surface with fiberglass backing. The fiberglass backing reduces the amount of curling on the edges that common non-tensioned materials are susceptible to. This feature helps maintain flatness throughout the entire material. The Spectra White Fiberglass produces outstanding images that are rich in color and contrast in environments with controlled lighting. Offers a broad viewing angle with wide diffusion uniformity for a clear bright image from any angle. The screen surface has a black-backing to eliminate light penetration, is mildew resistant, and washable with mild soap & water.


Acoustic Pro 1080P2
( 1.0 Gain, 160° Viewing Angle)

The AcousticPro1080P2 has a matte white surface with a 1.0 gain that provides excellent color neutrality for superb color reproduction along with wide diffusion uniformity. The angular weave material is designed to allow wall-speaker sound to breathe through the screen while eliminating the visual artifact known as moiré effect. The precision angled mesh of the material allows viewers to enjoy a visually superior presentation with strong color neutrality and artifact-free performance. The material is perfect for use with native 1080P projectors for home cinema and commercial applications.


Wraith Veil
( 2.2 Gain, 160° Viewing Angle)

WraithVeil is our rear projection screen material. It has a high gain performance for applications with a high ambient light intrusion. Its 2.2 gain configuration is ideal for events such as clubs, restaurants, trade shows, meeting rooms, and outside evening presentations. Its special surface coating enhances color reproduction and black level contrast with wide uniformity for large audiences. Seamless screen sizes are available in sizes up to 200".
